Honeymoon Destination In Thailand

Planning a honeymoon is so much fun compared to planning a wedding. Looking for a unique honeymoon destination that will have your friends in awe? Plan a Thailand honeymoon! You only have one honeymoon, well at least that’s what you hope for, so make it epic! Head to some of the best beaches in Thailand or relax in the Thai jungle. Here are 21 unique Thai honeymoon ideas that will have you planning a honeymoon in Thailand in no time. We can talk from experience we spent 2 weeks of our honeymoon in Thailand and since have spent more than a year exploring the country’s top couples holiday spots.

This is how we would spend our honeymoon in Thailand if we did it all again today after experiencing these amazing places over the past three years of living in Thailand. Adjust it to fit your style and switch out honeymoon destinations based on your taste and interests. One thing to keep in mind while planning your Thailand honeymoon itinerary, be sure not to add too many destinations, but rather truly enjoy the places you visit. We suggest not planning more than 4 destinations on your honeymoon itinerary because travel time between the cities will take away from actually enjoying your honeymoon. Here’s what our perfect Thailand honeymoon would look like.

Days 1-3: Bangkok:-Bangkok is the biggest international terminal and you’ll likely land here when starting your honeymoon. We think Bangkok is the best introduction to Thailand and an overall fascinating city. Spend your first few days of your honeymoon seeing the sights and recovering from your jetlag. Stay at a luxurious 4-star hotel for under $100 a night or rent an epic Airbnb condo.Alternatively you may want to get straight to the beach and recover from jetlag on the white sand beaches of Thailand. That’s not a bad plan either, so we would then suggest modifying your itinerary to put Bangkok at the end of the trip because it will likely be the airport you leave from. One thing to note is this will result in an extra transfer and potentially a shuttle transfer to the beach destination. This additional travel after a long-haul flight may sound like a good idea from your couch at home, but it might not be the most pleasant way to start your honeymoon.

Days 4-9: The Beach (choose one from the destinations below):-After the intense big city of Bangkok catch a flight south to one of the many Thai beach destinations to get a few days of relaxation on your honeymoon. We personally suggest Koh Lipe for a relaxing and beautiful Thailand honeymoon, but if you are looking for a bigger party scene you might opt for Koh Phi Phi or Koh Pha Ngan, or Krabi. Go on a Thailand island hopping adventure visit several islands.

Days 10-14: A bit of Thai Culture:-To round out your trip head to one of the country’s many culturally rich destinations. There are a number to choose from, but we highly recommend a trip to the north in the cities like Chiang Mai and Chaing Rai. If your taking a Thailand Honeymoon in April head to the Songkran Chiang Mai festival every April 13-15th to celebrate the Thai New Year.Alternatively if you and your new husband or wife are not big culture buffs and would rather have a more adventurous honeymoon, you might opt for a trip to Kanchanaburi or Koh Sok Lake. Party animals might want to check out Koh Pha Ngan and divers might want to explore Koh Tao. There is something for every honeymoon in Thailand.

Ending Your Thailand Honeymoon Properly:-If you plan your honeymoon itinerary properly you can leave Thailand late in the day on your last day of your trip so there is time in your itinerary to fly from Chiang Mai (or whichever city you choose to finish) and not have to spend an additional night in Bangkok if you don’t wish too.Keep in mind there are two airports in Bangkok and almost all international flights to Europe and North America will leave out of Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) while most domestic (all of Air Asia flights) will land into Bangkok at Don Muang Airport (DMK). Transport between the two airports is relatively easy to arrange but can take several hours with Bangkok traffic. If leaving from Chiang Mai (and other cities in Thailand) there are multiple daily flights on Thai Smile (Thai Airways) that land into Bangkok at BKK. This way no airport transfer is needed, making the last day of your Thai honeymoon a little less stressful. Flight prices are generally the same as other carriers flying into DMK airport.

Koh Lipe:-Koh Lipe, also known as “The Maldives of Thailand.” When you compare anything to the Maldives it’s got big shoes to fill. But Koh Lipe does it, we have spent 5 weeks island hopping in the Maldives and 4 weeks in Koh Lipe (on 3 different trips). Koh Lipe is the magical paradise floating in the middle of the Andaman Sea with insane turquoise waters and white sandy beaches. Traveling to Koh Lipe is only accessible by boat year-round from Pak Bara Thailand and from Langkawi Malaysia & other Thai islands November-April.
Suggested Nights In Koh Lipe: 3 to 5 nights:-Things to do in Koh Lipe: Rent a longtail boat for the day and take a private tour of the islands for less than $50 a day. Watch the sunset on Sunset Beach and watch the sunrise on Sunrise Beach. Have the best curry in the world at Sunrise Beach Restaurant for only $3, TIP get the Penang curry it’s the best one.

Koh Samui:-Koh Samui is in the Gulf of Thailand and is the second largest island in Thailand. Koh Samui has honeymoon accommodation for all budgets from super luxury resorts to simple bamboo beach huts. No matter where you rest your head at night you’re still in paradise on your honeymoon. There is an airport on the island, you can travel by ferry to Koh Samui from several other islands as well. Click here for Koh Samui ferry schedule and prices.
Things to do in Koh Samui:-After a day of relaxing on the beach and taking in the views head off and explore the island. There are several temples to check out but don’t miss Wat Plai Laem. The adventurous can rent a motorbike and swim in Na Muang Waterfall.

Koh Phi Phi:-If you have seen Leonardo DiCaprio’s movie “The Beach“, then you’ve heard of Koh Phi Phi. Couples looking for a gorgeous Thai island with some nightlife head to Koh Phi Phi. Nightlife in Koh Phi Phi starts with a good seafood BBQ followed by a fire show and then a few too many Thai buckets or Chang beers. If you want a quiet peaceful honeymoon you may want to choose another destination or opt to stay on the quieter Long Beach area of the island. There are several ferries to Koh Phi Phi from other Thai islands.
Things to do in Koh Phi Phi:-Rent a longtail boat for the day and take a private tour out to Maya Bay. Make sure to head to Maya Bay before the group tours leave, Maya Bay gets really busy and pictures are best before all the day trip boats arrive.

Koh Lanta:-Koh Lanta is located in the Andaman Sea and is part of an archipelago of about 52 islands. Most tourists stay on Koh Lanta Yai. Koh Lanta is connected easily by ferry to other Thai islands. Tie in Koh Lanta to a Thailand honeymoon island hopping trip. Koh Lanta has not one, but eleven white sandy beaches, coral reefs, and much more to offer. Koh Lanta is best for honeymooners not looking for a party island. Koh Lanta can be reached by ferry from several other Thai islands or by land coming from Krabi the nearest airport. Click here for Koh Lanta ferry schedule and prices.
Things to do in Koh Lanta:-Rent a scooter and explore Koh Lanta. It’s quite large and you could spend the day finding hidden gems. Make sure to visit Old Town Koh Lanta to see a whole different side of Koh Lanta. Of course, make sure to relax on the white sandy beaches.

Koh Chang:-Koh Chang is still not on the mainstream tourist radar and is one of the last of Thailand’s (semi) hidden gems. This laid back island is the perfect place to do just that, lay back and relax. Please note there is another island called Ko Chang located in the Andaman Sea near Myanmar. This Koh Chang is in the Gulf of Thailand near Cambodia. Travel to Koh Chang is done by ferry from other islands and from the mainland. Click here for Koh Chang bus schedule and tickets.
Things to do in Koh Chang:-There are several gorgeous white sandy coves, rainforests, coral reefs, waterfalls, and much more on Koh Chang.

Koh Adang:-Koh Adang is perfect for the adventure honeymoon couple looking for outdoor activities and doesn’t require a 5-star resort. You are sure to find your own private beach on Koh Adang. There are simple bungalows available to rent through the National Park system or camping right on the beach. Koh Adang is a quick ten-minute boat ride away from Koh Lipe.
Things to do in Koh Adang:-Koh Adang has some amazing hikes leading to viewpoints of Koh Lipe and waterfalls. Bring your own snorkel gear or rent it from the restaurant for some amazing snorkeling in Koh Adang.
